The 3 best cocktails for the summer

De 3 bedste cocktails til sommeren - PremiumBottles

Looking for the best cocktails for your late summer evenings? Then you can find the ideal cocktail at Premium Bottles.

We have made a small selection of recipes for three cocktails that are perfect for the warm summer weather. It doesn't matter whether you have a huge party or just want something delicious to drink slowly while you sit on the balcony and watch the sun go down.

Mixing cocktails requires a good eye. In addition, the occasion may also require you to make it in larger quantities than a single drink glass. That's why all our ingredients are measured by parts, rather than centiliters or cups.

Mimosa cocktails – fresh and light drink for the summer heat

Mimosas are light and fruity cocktails. The combination of the fresh fruit and the sparkling champagne makes them ideal for the summer season.

Mimosa cocktails have one of the simplest recipes and also require very few ingredients. If you want to have the best Mimosa cocktails, you may need to use a little manual labor. You have to squeeze quite a few oranges.

Ingredients

  • ⅔ parts champagne
  • ⅓ part orange juice (freshly squeezed)
    or
  • ⅓ part grape juice

Recipe for Mimosa cocktails

Squeeze your oranges and pour the juice into a large jug.

If you don't like fruit pulp, you also have the option to strain out the larger pieces here. It is easiest to do when you make the very large portion, rather than when you pour into the individual glasses.

Then pour ⅔ orange juice into a champagne glass.

Then add ⅓ champagne.

The champagne should preferably be a little dry, so that it provides some counterpoint to the sour-sweet taste of the oranges.

If you would like to try a slightly more advanced deluxe version, you can try a Mango Mimosa .

Long Island Iced Tea – cocktails with gangster history

Long Island Iced Tea was invented in New York during the prohibition era . Even though the entire state was dry, that didn't stop bootleggers from mixing up brand new drinks made up of the smuggled liquor they now had in stock.

Long Island Iced Tea is probably something close to the classic example of a sneaky drink. Incidentally, this is also the reason why it was originally mixed with cola - to hide the fact that it contained alcohol.

The many ingredients also make Long Island Iced Tea one of the heaviest cocktails. Therefore, it is also best to only serve one or two, unless you are looking for a very wild evening - and a rough morning.

Ingredients

  • ⅕ part gin
  • ⅕ part vodka
  • ⅕ part light rum
  • ⅕ part tequila
  • ⅕ part liqueur
  • Lemon juice or lime
  • Cola
  • Ice

Recipe for Long Island Iced Tea cocktails

Put ice or ice cubes in a chilled glass.

Then top up with equal parts gin, vodka, light rum, tequila and liqueur. You can also choose to use a gin that has already been mixed with liqueur.

Finally, you flavor the cocktail with a little hint of lemon juice and cola.

If you want to keep the alcohol percentage down a bit, you can mix the drink so that it consists mainly of cola. However, the best Long Island Iced Tea cocktails should preferably be more clear than cola-colored.

Manhattan cocktails – the American original

One of the oldest cocktails in the world, is also one of the most well-known. Manhattan cocktails were invented in New York's famous Manhattan Club around 1880. The Manhattan Club was a meeting point for politicians and wealthy people in the late 1800s and early 1900s.

A Manhattan is unmistakably American. The best Manhattan cocktails should be made with bourbon and Italian vermouth. If it is replaced with whiskey, it is called a Rob Roy instead.

Ingredients

  • ⅔ parts bourbon
  • ⅓ part vermouth
  • Bitter of a kind
  • Ice

Recipe for Manhattan cocktails

Mix ⅔ parts bourbon with ⅓ part vermouth in a glass with ice.

Then pour into a coupe glass. Add a dash of bitters.

One last piece of advice

Whether you're making one drink or the other, there's one thing you can't skimp on - and that's ice cubes. Ice cubes can decide the fate of your drinks, as a chilled cocktail will always be preferable in the summer heat. Therefore, make sure you have an ice cube machine or ice cube bags at hand when you need to use them. In this way, you are guaranteed the best experience for you and your guests.
