WE RECOMMEND: Champagne you must taste in 2019

VI ANBEFALER: Champagne du skal smage i 2019 - PremiumBottles

When we hear the word champagne, we know we have to celebrate someone or something. For champagne is golden drops of sparkling wine, and clearly the most popular in the category. Brands such as Moët & Chandon , Dom Perignon etc. is usually what people relate to when they think of champagne, but there are many providers on the market.

In the year 1700 approx. One discovered Méthod Champenoise, or as it is called today Méthode Traditionelle, and the champagne that was produced then is very similar to what we know today as champagne. The most important thing you need to know about champagne is that the wine per Definition must take place in the Champagne region of northeastern France. champagne comes in many different styles, and at a variety of prices, so it's always good to have some understanding of what to look for when choosing champagne.

We want to make it easier for you as a consumer by coming up with a recommendation for 3 champagnes you MUST taste in 2019, which are Moët & Chandon, Dom Perignon and Bollinger champagne.

Before we make recommendations, it is good to have a handle on various categories within champagne. Within champagne there are 4 levels of sweetness, Extra-Brut, Brut, Extra dry and Demi-sec. The bottle will always state which category this champagne falls under.

Extra Brut:

This is the driest form of champagne, it is because the yeast has absorbed all the sugar, so there is an absence of sugar in the champagne.

This type of champagne is clearly the most popular of the sparkling wines. The champagne is dry, with a hint of sweetness. The difference between Brut and Extra-Brut is that the winemaker stopped the fermentation process just before all the sugar was absorbed by the yeast.

Extra Dry:

This type of champagne is still a dry sparkling wine, but not at all as dry as the 2 previously mentioned. It is sweeter than the other 2, but it is still not described as a sweet champagne.

This is categorized as a sweet champagne, often used for dessert or similar. Demi-sec has a noticeable proportion of sugar, hence the sweet taste.

Recommendation #1 – Moët & Chandon Nectar

If you are not into the classic Brut or dry wines in general, then you should try Moët & Chandon's Nectar, it is characterized by its bright fruity taste and its elegant maturity. This Moët champagne is a Demi-sec, which is perfectly balanced between sweet and fresh, with a taste of exotic fruits and a touch of vanilla.

Recommendation #2 – Dom Perignon Vintage 2008

Dom Perignon Vintage from 2008 is a champagne everyone must taste. This Dom Perignon from 2008 seemed for a long time to be a less good vintage due to the bad weather in 2008, but just before the harvest the weather changed and the vineyards and the grapes were perfect. This atypical season has given the Champagne a unique balance. Here at PremiumBottles, we think this Dom Perignon 2008 would end up on the top shelf, along with the great vintages 1990, 1996 and 2002.

Vintage champagne is extremely popular in today's Denmark, and more and more collectors are coming. If you want to get hold of this Dom Perignon from 2008, then you have to act fast. Antonio Galloni , who is one of the most recognized wine critics within champagne, has given Dom Perignon Vintage 2013 a score of an impressive 98 out of a possible 100, which only confirms how fantastic this champagne is.

Recommendation #3 – Bollinger Rosé Brut

Bollinger champagne is characterized by luxury and high caliber quality. This Bollinger champagne is no exception, because with the taste of currants, cherries and strawberries, they have created a champagne that is tailored for the Danish summer. Unlike the others, this champagne contains a touch of red wine, which makes this champagne completely unique.
