Fury handmade Danish Akvavit 70 cl 42%
In August 2023, Mælkevejen Distillery opened in Ørslev near Vordingborg.
Their first product is the aquavit FURY, which has its roots in the classic cumin-based aquavit, but drawn in a more tropical direction with, among other things, pineapple, coconut, ginger, lime, fennel and lemongrass.
Insanely delicious with tonic, for cocktails, and of course for the classic cold table.
Tasting notes:
Nose: Sweet, warm fruits of pineapple and orange followed by a wave of juicy citrus, ginger and lime, and a gentle undercurrent of anise.
Taste: Candied pineapple coats the tongue and then retreats to revitalize the mouth with a coolness of lemongrass and ginger.
At Mælkevejen Distillery, they are a good mix of people from the restaurant industry, who, among other things, are behind the cocktail bars Ruby, Lidkoeb and Brønnum, and people from spirits import & distribution, - all with a fondness for spirits of the highest quality.
Together, they have more than 80 years of experience in spirits, which they bring into play in the creation of our products.
Classic mistake!
What many do not know is that there is a big difference between schnapps and akvavit.
Akvavit is a regulated spirit category, as we know it from Cognac, gin and whiskey. Akvavit, for example, must be distilled, must be at least 37.5% alcohol and must be based on cumin and/or dill.
The production of schnapps is less demanding, and can basically just be a vodka with added herbs.
