Citadel Gin
Citadelle Gin is the original French castle gin, distilled at Château de Bonbonnet in the heart of Cognac. Today, the gin is almost iconic, but originally it was not easy to get permission to make gin in Cognac. About half of the year, no distillation is allowed for cognac, and for Maison Ferrand it was an obvious opportunity to use the time for gin. But the great powers in Cognac opposed it, and only after 5 years of fighting against bureaucracy did they manage to get the green light.
