Glenmorangie's A Tale Of Tokyo is the distillery's exciting next release in its 'Tale of...' series – and the first to be partially aged in Japanese mizunara oak casks. Combining bright, bold flavors with soft sweetness, this experimental limited edition single malt whiskey is as full of sensory contrasts as the city of Tokyo itself.

Not only is it a unique, imaginative release, it's also award-winning, having received the rare distinction of Double Gold - where all members of the judging panel award a gold medal - at the 2023 San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

Inspired by Tokyo's many sensory dimensions, A Tale of Tokyo brings together whiskey partially aged in Japanese mizunara oak casks with whiskey that has spent time in both sherry and bourbon casks.

The Japanese wood's influence on the spirit is complex and unusual, requiring balancing and softening with Glenmorangie's light, floral whiskey base.

The result of this union is a unique and complex flavor profile – notes of pepper merge with bitter cherry and mouth-watering orange peel with incense and sweet oak.

Tasked with bringing the whiskey to life in a visual form, renowned Japanese artist Yamaguchi Akira created his own playful and intricate perspective on Tokyo's contrasts and layers of history and culture, which is highlighted on the bottle's artwork and outer packaging.

Aroma: Powerful herbal on the nose, with hints of toffee contrasted by incense and saddle soap, followed by a resinous note and a touch of cedar.

Taste: A peppery mouthfeel leads to notes of tart oranges and bitter cherries along with fennel and chewy oak. The finish is long and mildly nutty, with hints of almond, tangerine, ground white pepper and more wood resin.

Glenmorangie is known for having Scotland's tallest stills. The tall cauldrons provide increased contact between the spirit and the copper, and this has a marked effect on the taste of the final whisky, which becomes lighter and more elegant.
