Experience an intense golden color in the glass with a fine stream of closely knit pearls. It is rich and intense, the ripe tropical fruits and citrus and apple and underlying spice. The palate shows the magic of this blend, there is freshness and ripeness, hints of fresh apples and underlying toastiness with a velvety texture. A well-balanced minerality through the long-lasting finish. Very good, I prefer this mix to the original release. This has characteristics to complement a meal, but due to its freshness can be served as an aperitif.
Ruinart R de Ruinart Brut NV is a blend of 40% chardonnay, 50-55% pinot noir and 5-10% meunier, the grapes used to create R de Ruinart come mainly from the Côte des Blancs, a chalk-rich area famous for its superior chardonnay, and the Vallée de la Marne, which grows pinot noir and meunier that add a soft fruitiness to the champagne.
The cellar master also adds 20-25% reserve wine from the previous two years.
Appearance:
Delicate yellow in colour, there are golden glimmers and a crystalline shine.
Aroma:
Lush aromas of pear, apple and flowers combine with notes of hazelnut and almond.
Taste:
R de Ruinart is rounded, full-bodied and balanced with flavors of greengages and nectarines. The finish is long and fresh, while the chardonnay shines through.
Each Moët & Chandon Grand Vintage 2016 is unique and expresses Moët & Chandon's Cellar Master's personal interpretation of the year.
The weather
The 2016 grape harvest in Champagne reflects the region's traditional unpredictability. The winter was wet and cool, causing some mildew and grape loss, followed by a rainy spring and summer that dried the vineyards and led to water stress and further fruit loss. Despite these challenges, the remaining grapes ripened well, especially the Meuniers and Pinots Noirs.

Tasting notes
Slightly golden yellow with vivid green reflections.
The first aromas are brown and dry: toasted bread, kernels and hazelnut. The secondary aromas are softer: gingerbread, marzipan, barley sugar. Finally, the most persistent background notes are fruity and floral: plum, mirabelle, quince, orange blossom and anise.
A calm, round palate.
The taste envelops you effortlessly, like a gentle wave rolling over smooth sand before gently receding. The initial round, supple taste transitions effortlessly into a structured core-like sensation, culminating in a finish reminiscent of the sweet, tangy freshness of a clementine or pomelo.
