The weather
The 2016 grape harvest in Champagne reflects the region's traditional unpredictability. The winter was wet and cool, causing some mildew and grape loss, followed by a rainy spring and summer that dried the vineyards and led to water stress and further fruit loss. Despite these challenges, the remaining grapes matured well, especially Meuniers and Pinots Noirs, which make up 85% of this champagne.

Vineyards: Predominantly Grand & Premier Crus
Grape varieties: Pinot Noir 43% (of which 13% is red wine), Chardonnay 42% & Meunier 18%
Storage in the second fermentation: 6 years
Aged in bottle after disgorging: at least 6 months
Dosage: 5g/litre (extra brut)
Tasting notes
Medium pink with brilliant bluish reflections
The fruitiness is immediately apparent: syrupy red fruits, slightly crushed strawberries, raspberries and late summer blueberries take the front line. Complemented by delicate, colorful floral aromas: rose, hibiscus, violet. Shades of gingerbread and chocolate powder.
The palate offers an immediate sensation of pleasure, with a fine, supple and harmonious profile. The fruit appears fresher than expected, displaying perfectly ripe raspberries. The initial light texture gradually gives way and gives a nice sensation of sweetness.
