This is the fourth release of Veuve Clicquot Extra Brut Extra Old after the original release back in 2017. This is a multi-vintage made from 6 of Veuve Clicquot's most prestigious vintages: 1996, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2013 and 2014. Selected for their fullness, generosity and structure. All vintages have stored more than three years in tanking lees. The final blend spends another five years in the bottle on the lees and another year in the cellars after disgorging. EBEO is bottled to produce a lower pressure of 4.5 bar pressure where as the standard is 6 bar, this gives a softer mousse much fuller taste.

Tasting note: An intense golden color in the glass with a fine flow of closely knit pearls. It is rich and intense, the ripe tropical fruits and citrus and apple and underlying spice. The palate shows the magic of this blend, there is freshness and ripeness, hints of fresh apples and underlying toastiness with a velvety texture. A well-balanced minerality through the long-lasting finish. Very good, I prefer this mix to the original release. This has characteristics to complement a meal, but due to its freshness can be served as an aperitif.
