Krug Grande Cuvée 170th Edition is a blend of 195 wines from 12 different vintages, spanning from 1998 to 2014. The art of blending so many different vintages gives Krug Grande Cuvée its unique richness of flavors and aromas, which is impossible to express with wines from just one vintage. The edition number identifies a specific creation of Krug Grande Cuvée; it corresponds to the number of years in the Krug house that the founder’s dream has been recreated. Krug’s cellar master Julie Cavil, together with the tasting committee, recorded over 4,000 tasting notes to be consulted before any decision was made on the blend, tasting around 250 of the year’s wines several times and 150 reserve wines from 14 different vintages. This blend is made from 195 wines from 12 different vintages, the youngest of which is from 2014, while the oldest dates back to 1998.
