Each Krug Vintage is a harmonious blend of the most expressive wines from a single year, enhanced by a stay of more than 10 years in the cellars, and this 2011 release is wonderfully unique.
After an unpredictable and somewhat radical year, with sudden bursts of scorching heat just before harvest, this 2011 vintage contains some unusually juicy and ripe Chardonnays, making up 37% of the finished blend. The resulting vintage has a lively roundness that perfectly captures the 2011's character.

Brilliant, yellow gold.
Aroma
The first notes of fresh, ripe apricots and white fruits give way to tart star fruit and fresh citrus, followed by mentholated licorice nuances with a hint of basil.
Taste
Powerful and round on the palate with flavors of stewed, caramelised and dried fruit followed by marzipan, barley, sugar, praline, honey and hazelnut. Hints of smokiness, thyme and rosemary follow before a lively, lingering finish with flavors of blood orange, sea salt and grapefruit peel.

“The 2011 Vintage is a very pretty wine in this highly challenging vintage. Apricot, mint, dried herbs and a kiss of French oak open nicely in the glass. There is some of the savory character of 2011, but it is nicely woven into the wine's fabric. To be sure, the 2011 is a slender vintage at Krug. That is especially evident in the wine's light-ish mid-palate and overall feel, yet all the elements are impeccably balanced.
