Barroso

Barros was founded in 1913 by Manuel de Almeida, then under the name Almeida & Ca. He had a vision to make his port wine house one of the world's leading, and when he died in 1974, the dream had come true. At the time, Barros accounted for approximately 6% of the total production of port wine!

The house's good reputation is mainly created through their legendary colheitas, which is a category in which they are particularly strong. Colheitas are wines from a single vintage aged at least 7 years in barrel - but usually much longer. Barros has countless vintages in stock, dating back to the 1940s, and they are only bottled on order.

Since 2006, Barros has been part of the Sogevinus group, which also has a handful of other highly respected brands in its portfolio, such as Kopke and Burmester.
